Bridge Phobia: How to get over your fear of bridges

If you have developed a bridge phobia, you could be in for some long journeys.

Bridges are a useful way of crossing rivers and valleys. They crop up everywhere – from the giant bridges like the Golden Gate Bridge to the smaller ones that should be on your route most every day.

More about bridge phobia

Your bridge phobia can be a mixture of different elements:

  • Fear of heights – especially if there are gaps in the floor of the bridge that you can see down through.
  • Fear of movement – if it’s a flimsy bridge that you’re facing.
  • Worry – if the bridge doesn’t look susbstantial, will it be safe to cross? This facet of your fear is probably increased if the bridge has a weight limit.
  • Exposure – the sides of the bridge aren’t usually very tall, so you may have views into the distance and feel exposed.

Here’s how hypnosis can help you overcome your fear of bridges:

Bridge phobia: fear of bridgesLet’s face it, your fear of bridges is probably not a conscious decision that you’ve made. It’s highly unlikely that you woke up one morning and thought “I know, I’m going to start being afraid of bridges”.

Of course, small children might be worried in case there’s a nasty troll hiding below a particular bridge. But it’s not too likely that you believe that I hope.

And since you can’t rationally get over your phobia, it’s time to let hypnosis work with your subconscious mind to quell your fear and let you cross a bridge again without breaking out into a cold sweat or setting your sat-nav to avoid every possible bridge.
