Driving Phobia: How to overcome your fear of driving
Driving is so much a part of our everyday life that it’s hard to visualize what life would be like without driving – but if you’re unfortunate enough to have a driving phobia, is there anything you can do?
Types of Driving Phobia
Fear of driving comes in different intensities. For instance:
- You may be so petrified that you won’t even get near the driver’s seat of the car. That’s an intense manifestation of this problem and is more difficult than the other intensities but definitely overcomeable.
- You may be worried about driving on busy highways, maybe because other drivers cut you up or you think they’re too close.
- You may have a fear of driving at night. That’s quite common – we’re not nocturnal creatures which means that night driving isn’t something anyone is completely comfortable with.
- You may have been unfortunate enough to have been involved in a motoring accident (or even just nearly involved in one). Time can help heal this wound but other techniques will speed up the process.
Whatever the reason for your fear of driving, it’s important nowadays to overcome your worries. Otherwise you’ll be reliant on other people to drive you around like when you were a youngster.
Hypnosis is a good way to overcome your phobia of driving as it works with your subconscious mind to train it to think in new ways.
Obviously, like any other hypnosis session, it’s important not to listen to the MP3 whilst you yourself are in charge of a vehicle (but it’s OK to listen in a car if you’re a passenger) so you’ll need to set aside some time to listen to the track and let it help you get over your worries.
