How To Improve Concentration
Concentration, sometimes called being in the zone, is important for lots of things, so how can you improve concentration? There’s the obvious ones like driving a vehicle or taking an exam. But there are lots of other times when you need to be able to concentrate on what you’re doing.
So what’s the best way for you to improve concentration?
The first thing may sound counter-intuitive, but make sure you take regular breaks. Generally, we’re not geared to long, intense activity. Most humans work better with short bursts of activity, followed by a break. Even a few minutes break will work – a lot of people swear that taking a short power nap is an important part of their daily routine.
Be careful about too much caffeine…
More help to improve concentration
Although caffeine can help as a short term boost, there are lots of side effects that can be more negative than positive.
Set out a plan: there’s almost always time to make a plan and once you’ve set everything out on paper or on screen, you can see whether your initial instincts about the priority of things were actually correct. I’ve found numerous times that when I stop to think about things, items leap out off the page and save me time. Concentrating on your plan initially is almost always time well spent.
Set a goal or target. Napoleon Hill called this a “burning desire” and the bigger the target is, the better. Take time to sit down and visualize how everything will work out when your plan comes to fruition. See exactly what you’ll see when your plan is complete, hear any sounds associated with it, smell any smells. Then make that come to life as much as you can! Keeping your end result in mind will help you stick to your plan which, in turn, will help you concentrate.
Allow yourself some day-dreaming time. The saying “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” is true. If you’re always concentrating on “imporant” things, seemingly 24/7, there’s an high chance that your brain will call a halt and your concentration will be affected, maybe your health as well.
Use hypnosis to improve your concentration.
