Learn How To Type Faster

Increasingly we need keyboard skills and probably need to learn how to type faster.

It seems that everything in life has a keyboard attached, even if it’s a miniature keyboard like the one on your cell phone.

Most of the time, we’re sat in front of a real keyboard. Probably poking at keys and hitting the right ones most of the time.

How to type fasterEven if you’re a hunt and peck two finger typist, it will pay you to learn how to type faster.

You’ll spend less time replying to emails. Your internet searches will speed up. Your letter and report writing will improve.

Trouble is, taking the time to learn how to type faster and learning how to touch type isn’t always as easy as it should be.

This isn’t helped by the fact that the keyboard layout we still use to this day was actually designed to slow down early touch typists because otherwise the keys on their typewriters jammed. That’s why common letters are scattered all over the place.

Touch typing is an art but it can be learned. You may or may not have noticed the slight bumps on a couple of the keys on your keyboard (on the F and J keys) – these are designed to give you tactile feedback when you’re touch typing to make sure that your hands are in the correct position on the keyboard.

Persevere with learning to touch type – at first there’s a good chance it will slow you down but as you keep going then you’ll find that your old typing speeds are in the dim and distant past and that you’ll be outpacing almost everyone you know. Which will have a nice boost on your productivity – everything from emails to essays to reports will be produced faster and probably more accurately when learn to type quicker.
