Letting Go Of The Past and Moving On In Your Life

It’s easier said than done, letting go of the past. Most of us cling to some past events but some of us do this more than others. The trouble is that letting go of the past and moving on in your life has all sorts of repurcussions.

All sorts of memories rear their heads. Some are good memories that you don’t want to lose. Others are memories that you’d love to forget but keep coming back to haunt you.

So, what can help with letting go of the past?

The other snag is that we tend to do that more with unhappy memories than we do with pleasant ones. I guess it’s just part of human nature that we do that.

Distract yourself. Start concentrating on something else entirely when you find yourself starting to wallow in past events and drag yourself down in the process.

Chances are that you won’t do that every single time but that doesn’t matter.

Whatever it is you’re trying to let go of, whether it’s your ex or someone else who is no longer part of your life, the tighter your grip and the more often you dwell on it, the more it will stay with you.

And, it follows, that the looser your grip and the less often you concentrate on the past event, the more likely it is to fade away. Hopefully gracefully.
